Lake in Castlewellan Forest Park

Only 4 miles from Oakleigh House bed and breakfast, near the market town of Castlewellan is the Castlewellan Forest Park, National Arboretum and gardens and the Peace Maze. The park covers 460 hectares and is mixed woodland with a wide range of walks. The land was leased from the Annesley family in 1967 and became a forest park in 1969
The castle was constructed from local granite and overlooks a mile long lake surrounded by woodland and mature parkland.
Guided tours of the Arboretum and gardens can be arranged.
Outdoor facilities include fishing, nature watching, canoeing, pony trekking, rambling and orienteering
This is the venue for the Peace Maze, the largest hedged maze in the world opened in 2001
