Oakleigh House is only a short distance from The Royal County Down Golf Club with its 18 hole Championship course, one of the world's top ten links and there are many other scenic courses with tree lined fairways awaiting our visitors to this area. For those visitors wishing to walk through this lovely county we have The Mourne Mountains with the highest peak of Slieve Donard overlooking Newcastle bay and Tollymore Park with its many trails and tracks. Learn to climb on Hotrock at the Tollymore Mountain Centre. Horse riding trips through the hills, parks and beaches are easily arranged for novices and more experienced riders. Sailing, and outdoor pursuits are all available in this area.

Follow the life and work of St Patrick by visiting the Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick, medieval capital of County Down, Down Cathedral, St Patrick's Grave and Dundrum Castle and for a wealth of history the County Down Museum and Downpatrick Railway Museum.
